The other day we made a quick video of a Christmas Tree lot in Hoboken, NJ, our new home town. Well, not that new, we used to be based here about 6 years ago and are now back! Anyway, we made this video for our side project HoboBuzz.com. Additionally, we include photos from the video for your enjoyment. Oh, and if you need a Christmas tree, or wreaths, be sure to stop the Christmas tree lot at Our Lady Of Grace Church on Willow between 4th and 5th in Hoboken.

Joomla 3.6 Tag SEF URLs Broken - Solved!

This morning we discovered that the SEF structure of tags in Joomla 3.6.4 produces an item like this URL: ../component/tags/tag/4-tag.html. After searching around for a solution, the best we could do with out spending days debugging, was to set up a menu item pointing to tags, then set a .htaccess rewrite. For example: RedirectMatch 301 ^/component/tags/tag/(.*)$ /blog/tags/$1 . That this little trick does for those who do not know, is it sells the server if a request is made for any URL with this element "/component/tags/tag" to be redirected/rewritten as "/blog/tags/(var)". So, the item becomes /blog/tags/4-tag.html. This has solved the problem for the time being.

A couple weeks ago we shot a Youtube video titled Salisbury Antique Appraisals for our client Peenstra Appraisals. After editing down the two hours of raw video footage into an 8 minute highlight piece, we posted it on Youtube, PeenstraAppraisals.com and related social networks including their official branded blog: PeenstraAppraisals.wordpress.com.

Literally, in 58 minutes according to Google, Peenstra Appraisals , who had NO previous SERP for the targeted key term made it into the top ten of Google. This is pretty darn fast since there are over 122K pages competing for the same space. In a few days or so we expect the Youtube video along with the parent website site to replace the SERP result seen in the video. We'll check again in a week or so and post an update to the results. Hispanics watch Youtube more than cable

Here are some interesting stats direct from Google about how hispanic consumers interact and engage with Youtube. Most interesting is that more Hispanics watch Youtube than any cable network. Hmm. Additionally, 60% watch in English, 28% both English and Spanish, while only 12% watch in Spanish most of the time. Hmm. So, an easy conclusion here, is if you want to attract the Hispanic audience specifically, you need to be on Youtube. Plus, it's much less expensive to be on Youtube than on cable or other national TV programs.

The problem:

Today I was testing out a new piece of software that utulizes Adobe Air. I had an old version of Adobe Air install on my Windows 7 64 bit machine. After installing the new software, every time I tried to launch the software, I was asked via pop up to AGREE to the Adobe Air License. After numerous attempts, uninstalling, re-installing the most recent version, restarting the computer, trying out Windows little MicrosoftFixit app, nothing worked. Finally, I find a post on Adobe forums via a Google search of course, and found the answer. It's super simple.

How do I track a Breezing Forms with Google Analytics?

Tracking Breezing Forms by Crosstec Soultion with Google Analytics is a little complicated, but like most things internet there are numerous resources to use. To make things easier for you, we've made this little video so you can see exactly how to do it.

Video

 

1) First, you have to create a new page in Joomla that will be used as the Thank You page after a user submits a Breezing Form.

2) Go to Components > Breezing Forms > Manage Forms > Choose an existing form > Options select CUSTOM in the END SUBMIT field and add this code.

You will need to change the code in this line to your specific thankyou page.

*You can leave the other code as is, or change as needed if you are using those options.

3) Save.

Now go to your Google Analytics account.

1) Once logged in to to the Admin > Choose your account > Property > View Setting where you want to add a goal.

2) Choose Goals > New Goal

3) Choose type of Goal Set up > Template > Signup.

4) In Goal Description add a unique name ? choose type > Destination.

5) In Goal Details > Choose Equals to > and enter your thank you page url. Just a slash url not the full url. *Choose case sensitive.

For "value" enter the monetary value of a new sign up if applicable.

You can also enter "funnel" info which can be useful to determine if people are following the expected path to your signup page. In our case, the signup page is available as a global navigational item so a funnel is not particularly useful.

Save.

Now, test your Breezing form and make sure you are landing on your new thank you page and after 24 hours, go back to your Google Analytics account. Make sure you are logged into the correct view in REPORTING. In the lower left column, you'll see the CONVERSION dashboard. Click it and if you set everything up correctly, you will see conversion data.

In this tutorial I will show you how to create a white hat SEO network which I use to quickly rank YouTube videos for a given keyword term.

First, there are NO guarantees with search engine optimization. However, this is what I do, and have done for a variety of videos which have gained top ten ranking in just a few hours for GEO targeted - Local search terms.

For example, search "Annapolis Youtube marketing". If you search Google you'll find many of my videos and or related web sites in the top ten. I practically own the space! (Serr.biz and Naptown.today.)

You can do the same in your market.

*This technique tends to work the best of long tail and geo targeted search terms. It can work for broad match terms, but will take more time, and related content both in and out of your network.

Now, let's get started.

First set up a Gmail, Google Plus and Associated Youtube account. In the process, you may want to create a keyword target user name. For example, if you an Barber in Chicago, you might create the following gmail name: BestBarberChicago@gmail.com.

All set up with a gmail / Youtube / and Google plus page? Great. Now, visit this public spreadsheet in Google and make a private copy for yourself.

Google announced today via the YouTube : Creator Monthly newsletter that they have now added #hashtag functionality to YouTube. We gave it a quick test by search for Bernie as a keyword and as a hashtag. From the search results in the video you can see that yes, indeed, using a #hashtag in the search produced different results, and in this case, a video that was created about 5 hours ago moved to the top ten of YouTube search results. Cool. Now, marketers, have yet another simple tool to get into the top ten of, at least, YouTube search results. And, if combined with brand marketing and a unique search term #hashtag, should be able to maintain consistent top level ranking in both YouTube as well as Google proper.

Yesterday, 3/30/16, Facebook made a change to how a business page manager see the news feeds of the pages your brand is following. Unfortunately, Facebook did not bother to make any sort of announcement about this that we could find. After grinding our teeth for a few hours and searching all about, we found a solution. But, first, here is the problem specifically. Prior to 3/30/16, a person just had to switch from being themselves to their brand identity as normal by going to the page manager channel and "logging" in as the brand identity. Then, the brand page would come up and the social brand manager could then just click 'home' and view the social updates of the pages they were following as their brand identity. Not anymore. The LOGIN and the HOME links are gone.

According to an article by Greg Sterling over at Search Engine Land, l , Google is experimenting with a select local businesses to now show a Local Business Card directly in the search results related to a the brand using the tool. The tool is, apparently, the same as the one used for the Candidate Card, which Google released back in January 2016. An example of the how the "card" information displays can be seen by searching "Healthy Choice Massage". Ahealthychoicemassage, a small local business in Lincoln, NE not only shows up as the standard business listing to the right of the search results, but now also has a carousal of specific posts they made using the tool. Cool. Evidently, the tool will not only allow for static images, but animated gifs, video and text messages upto 14,400 characters. Currently, this tool is only available to select business and there is no clear why to get on a waiting list or any indication if the tool will become a permanent function. However, if it does become available to the public, this will be an excellent opportunity for small business owners to further control, to a degree, what is seen in the search results regarding their brand. Additionally, it may also help Google increase its social network market share. We'll see.
